They say the best way to cure a hangover is by ”hair of the dog”. After a night out that got you feeling this treacherous hangover the last thing on your mind may cracking a cold one open however, that’s precicely what this old English expression means. Originally, the expression referred to a method of treating a rabid dog bite by placing hair from the dog in the wound. When it comes to hangover, having another drink (any drink) is like taking hair from the dog ”that bit you”.
