Just 90 minutes north of St. Louis, and 3 hours south of Chicago, is a thriving brewing scene in Springfield, Illinois. The Illinois capitol is home to innovative breweries with commitments to local ingredients that makes for a perfect weekend road trip.

Below is your ideal itinerary for making the most of your visit:

Taproom Hours:

M-T: CLOSED | W-TH: 5:00 PM-10:00 PM | F-SA: 11:00 AM-11:00 PM | S: 1:00 PM-8:00 PM

Start your journey in a Springfield suburb at Hand of Fate Brewing Company.

Hand of Fate is the brainchild of two homebrewers turned brewery owners. With over 10 years of homebrew experience, the Hand of Fate specializes in a mixture of science and art to bring you delicious local flavors to enjoy inside their taproom or on their spacious patio.

The brewery’s name is inspired by a feud between Peter Lukins and George Warburton after young Abraham Lincoln surveyed the land Hand of Fates is now built upon. The fates would decide the name of the town over a card game – and, well, the winner is clear as you’ll be sipping pints in St. Petersburg.
